In mid-April to early May 2026, I undertook a spectacular three week trip through the Caucasus.  I had visited all three countries of the region (all former Soviet republics sandwiched between Russia to the north and Iran and Turkey to the south) in 2018, although the itinerary I followed then was quite different from this trip.  In 2018, Di was supposed to join me for the trip, but as her passport was stolen while in transit on her way to Baku, the previous trip was done without her.  Fortunately she was able to be with me this time – despite some anxiety given the regional conflicts at the time (outside the Caucasus but not far enough away for her peace of mind).  Read about my 2018 trip to the Caucasus HERE.
