Europe 1987
In July to September 1987, while undertaking a teaching exchange in the UK, I travelled with my family through Europe on a 56-day road trip. The trip took us to 12 countries, including several difficult-to-access Communist countries in Eastern Europe, two years before the fall of the Berlin Wall and the consequent collapse of those regimes. This travel diary here focuses on the experience of family travel rather than my research findings.
