I checked my weather app and saw that the only area in the Faroe Islands that was fog-free today was the far north, which made it our obvious destination for the day. Our ultimate destination was the small town of Gjógv. Being a warm, sunny Sunday, the town was a hive of activity with many of the locals swimming in the small stream that flowed through the town. We enjoyed a steep, outrageously scenic walk up from the old port along the cliff tops that provided fabulous views over the town and the surrounding glacially sculpted valleys. We took a diversion on our return trip to Tórshavn to visit another small farming community, Elduvík. When returned to foggy Tórshavn the hotel staff commented that we seem to have made the most of this year’s three day-long summer, suggesting that our luck of sunny days might soon come to an end.
