Africa (Mali and Morocco) Travel Diary 2004

We returned home to Adelaide via London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Melbourne.  It was good to return home, but although our memories of Africa may have already begun to dim just a little, in our dreams the African landscape still springs vividly to life.

Andrew had taken almost 700 digital photos that we have burnt onto a CD, so if you want to see them via a computer, just let us know.  I took about 1000 colour slides, and already we have had a couple of slide viewings with different audiences (mainly captive ones, such as my own children!).  These images, being slides, bring back the original vibrant colours of West Africa just as we remember them, and probably are the best way to experience the stunning things we saw without having to endure the heat, bumps, dust, smells and everything that we experienced to be part of West Africa for a week or two.  The memories and dreams of Africa continue!

Andy (age 12) writes:

Yes, it’s all over after a week of enjoyment. I’ve really enjoyed being with dad and spending time with him. Some of the other things that I’ve liked are the river cruise, walking around the villages with everyone wanting to touch my skin and watching a masked dance, but the thing that I enjoyed the most would have to be taking a camel trek through the Sahara desert. I hope that you’ve enjoyed reading my trip report about Mali and I look forward to seeing you soon! Bye! From Andy.
