Oman Travel Diary 2022 and 2023

This was another full day of work, so there’s not much to say in this travel diary.  I set my alarm for 7:00am and I had a Zoom call to Australia booked for 8:00am.  Having finished the call, I got to breakfast at a little after 9:00am, giving me plenty of time to enjoy the superb hotel buffet breakfast before being picked up by the Principal and driven to school for the day’s work.

Today’s work comprised an hour and a half meeting with the Principal, followed by a four hour workshop that I led with the school’s senior management.  The feedback at the end of the workshop was very generous, indeed extraordinarily encouraging, so I returned to the hotel at about 5:30pm feeling very affirmed and appreciated.

Although I had been standing all afternoon, I still felt the need to go for a walk, so I headed out as soon as I had returned my laptop and associated papers and equipment to my room.  This evening’s walk covered a distance of 5.25 kilometres and covered some of the same territory as yesterday’s walk along Al Shati Street, but rather than heading to the Royal Opera House, I turned in a different direction at the roundabout and made my mid-point turnaround at the small roundabout near the W Hotel.

The weather in Muscat is unusually cold at the moment, with many local people wearing puffer jackets to keep warm.  “Unusually cold” means a temperature range today of 18°C at dawn rising to a maximum of 23°C – comfortable weather for my business wear of long-sleeved shirt and tie from my perspective.   I think part of the feeling that conditions are cold is that the skies were overcast for much of the day, and overcast skies are fairly rare in Muscat.
