In October 2002, I undertook an unusual and pioneering business trip to recruit high school students from Russia to attend a school in Australia. The trip didn’t always go smoothly, perhaps expectedly given the nature of the ‘new’ Russia that was still emerging from the then-recent breakup of the Soviet Union. This travel diary focuses on the experiences of this novel and somewhat extraordinary business trip.
