In October 1991 I led a study tour to the USSR.  It was a period of immense turmoil and change, which we were able to experience at first-hand.  None of us knew that in less than 100 days after our departure, the Soviet Union would cease to exist.  The trip diaries here describe our efforts to try and make sense of everything we were experiencing.
