Central Asia Travel Diary

In July 2006, I had the great privilege of travelling through Central Asia with my youngest son, Andrew.  We shared many memorable experiences, and my tour diary appears on these web pages.

An image gallery of religious art and architecture seen on the trip called ‘Spirit of the Silk Road’ can be viewed HERE.

An image gallery showing scenes of Turkmenistan can be viewed HERE.

Thank you

I would like to thank the many people who made this experience the great time that it was.  Thanks Andy for your good humour, co-operation and patience.  Thank you to our drivers, many of whose names we never learnt, and especially to Marat in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Oleg and Dima in Turkmenistan, and Hamid and Ali in Iran.  Special thanks go to David Berghof who helped co-ordinate our visa and travel arrangements from his office in Almaty - his organisation (Stantours) can be recommended without hesitation.  Further details can be seen at www.stantours.com
