The House of Dancing Water
The House of Dancing Water

I am the first to admit that Di and I don’t get out often enough to enjoy cultural performances. It is one of the hazards of being the Head of a boarding school which has its own very vibrant artistic and performance life, creating a busy schedule of (thoroughly enjoyable) duties that precludes much of the participation in wider community life that I enjoy so much.
And so it was a particular joy on Thursday evening to take a quick trip to Macau to attend a performance of ‘The House of Dancing Water’.
It is difficult to classify this spectacular performance, which is quite unlike anything I have ever seen before - part musical, part circus, part comedy, part aquatic sports, part morality play, part daredevil, part confusion, part East, part West - but thoroughly compelling throughout.
Yes - having seen the show, I can see how those claims make sense.
Performed in a specially built theatre in the City of Dreams complex on Taipa Island, the show was certainly memorable, and Di and I are still talking about it.
I have assembled a gallery of photos to give you some idea of this very surprising performance, and I invite you to take a look HERE.
