Christmas Music comes into our home

The last week of term is always a
busy time, with staff and board meetings, report writing, special functions and urgent correspondence that conspire to consume many hours of time with relentless ease.  This week has been no exception, and it finished with the added pressure of some significant disciplinary issues to handle on the last day of the term.

Nonetheless, it has been a great week.  Our Christmas-themed, end-of-term dinner on Thursday evening was a spectacular event that provided a great opportunity to relax and enjoy each other’s company.  But for me personally, the highlight of the week was undoubtedly the music concert in our home on Tuesday afternoon.

The music recital began with an afternoon tea that we served in our dining area (see photo above), and this was followed by item after item of great music that finally made me realise in the midst of all the hectic busy-ness that Christmas is actually very imminent.

Di and I love having students visit us in our home, and on Tuesday afternoon, just over 100 students were our guests as we hosted a music concert with a special Christmas theme.  It was crowded, to say the least, but the quality of the music was sensational, and we felt it was a true privilege to have such exquisite music brought to us in our home.  The variety of the performances and the vast range of natural talent were certainly impressive!

I wish I could share some sound tracks of the music with you, but sadly the music is now just a very happy memory with no recordings.  However, I have prepared a small gallery of 21 images of the concert that I hope will convey something of the flavour of this wonderful event.  You can access the gallery using the link at the bottom of this blog.

May I take this opportunity to wish you a very happy, restful, refreshing and reflective holiday break.
