Family dinners away from home

The photo above shows the dining room in our home, looking from the lounge area, as the table was awaiting the arrival of a group of students to have dinner with us this week.  Di and I are having groups of students to our home in small groups to share dinner with us, and this week saw the first such dinners for this year.  On Monday evening a group of 12 First Year students joined us for dinner (see photo at right), and on Tuesday evening a similar number of Second Year students joined us.

Both dinners were thoroughly enjoyable from everyone’s perspectives, and we are looking forward to more of these evenings in the months ahead.  Di and I appreciated the opportunity to get to know our students better in very relaxed surroundings, and our students were able to enjoy some of Di’s famous home-cooked desserts.  As with all the conversations we seem to have with our students, the topics covered were extensively wide-ranging and immensely stimulating, indicating yet again the impressive qualities of the young people with whom we are privileged to share our campus.

I can hardly wait for the next dinner, with its conversations and fabulous desserts!
